Ingrid Andress Slays at The Sinclair

Nestled away in the college town of Cambridge, Massachusetts sits a small hip music venue called the Sinclair. Just 2 days after a near miss from a Nor’eastern named Sage, Ingrid Andress takes the stage to perform for a sold out crowd.

It’s a sunny day in Cambridge, with temperatures in the upper 40’s and a light breeze that occasionally makes it feel cooler. The doors open at 7:30 with artist Carter Faith kicking things off. This is the most intimate venue I have been to, no barricade between us and the stage, as if those in front are standing at a high top bar. The stage is set with covered instruments and a white carpet with black embellishments.

Carter Faith takes the stage with a mic and her guitarist, performing a beautifully sung acoustic set, dressed in an all black ensemble. From slow songs, to music from her EP Let Love Be Love, with a famous Dolly Parton tune in the mix she captivates the crowd. Grabbing the attention of more and more fans with every song she sings. Chatting with the crowd she mentions the release of her first album coming this year and how she will be hitting the stage with Little Big Town on a few stops over the summer.

After a brief break and set change, the lights dim to a dark blue. The notes of Good Person echo throughout, as a casually dressed Ingrid Andress takes the stage. With a white mid-drift tank top, navy blue pants, black combat boots and all smiles, Ingrid grips her custom rose mic stand and performs the new tune. The crowd joining in with loud joyful voices as she plays this sold out show. Taking us on a journey of her new album and Lady Like, her first album. She explains the meaning of each song and the personal journey she has been on the last few years. Joking that she doesn’t have many but did write a few love songs for once.

Ingrid is playful and animated as she moves all around the stage from left to right, to the floor to a chair to tell her story. Her vocals are truly unmatched. The sole difference from the album to the stage is the addition of her fans joyfully singing along, slightly off key, myself included. Ingrid takes a seat behind her keyboard to sing More Hearts Than Mine. The song that catapulted her career in 2020 and earned her a grammy nomination. She sings the first verse and chorus and then lets the crowd take over as she sits and watches her fans sing her song. With a big smile she says “this might be the loudest I have ever heard it sung.” She ends the show with a beautiful acoustic version of the song Blue. Making it even more special by taking her guitarist and walking into the crowd to spend the last few minutes of the show with her fans. The night was magical, and Ingrid is definitely an artist worth seeing if you get the chance. She is genuine talent, simple as that.

Ingrid will be continuing to tour in the US and in Europe over the summer. She will be headlining shows, sharing the stage with Walker Hayes and hitting up some festivals. Visit her official webiste for tour details.
